This is a 19th-century Russian Orthodox hand-painted icon on wood, depicting Saint Panteleimon, a revered Christian martyr and healer. Rendered in the traditional style of Eastern Orthodox iconography, the saint is shown standing in full-length profile, dressed in monastic robes with a halo encircling his head. He gestures in blessing toward a white-domed church, symbolizing faith and divine presence. In the upper left corner, a heavenly figure, likely Christ or God the Father, emerges from the clouds, extending a blessing, signifying the saint’s divine connection. The background is richly finished, framed by a deep red and ochre border. The inscription in Church Slavonic at the top reads “Святый Пантелеимонъ” (“Saint Panteleimon”). The icon bears an import sticker from Willamo Oy of Finland, a known importer of religious artifacts, suggesting it was brought to Finland as part of an antique collection. The piece reflects the spiritual devotion and craftsmanship typical of Russian religious art from the period.
