In this sweeping and contemplative landscape, Hildegård Falk, a German-born artist who found refuge in Sweden after World War II, blends personal history with the tranquility of her adopted homeland. A gently rushing dam cuts through the scene, its current captured in soft, fluid strokes of blue and white. To the right, tall trees rise quietly above the water, while a large barn anchors the background, rendered in muted tones that echo the land’s stillness. With broad, harmonious layers of green and blue, Falk paints not only the Swedish countryside but also a sense of refuge, renewal, and belonging.
Great vintage condition.
