A dreamlike, almost spiritual composition rendered in bold gouache strokes, this painting features a central motif of a hand reaching upward, breaking through what appears to be a white, cloud-like form. Above, a fork-like symbol with three tines casts a dramatic presence, perhaps representing conflict, divinity, or fate. The background is a deep, mysterious blue with an all-seeing eye nestled in the upper left, a surreal nod to consciousness or divine observation.
The lower section contains a fractured, vessel-like form that could symbolize the human body or spirit. From it, a single tear or drop falls, suggesting emotion, sacrifice, or transformation. Sharp lines, contrasting colors, and layered shapes imbue the piece with tension and mystery. A clear narrative seems just out of reach, inviting the viewer to participate in constructing its meaning.
The work’s use of abstraction and semi-recognizable forms, along with the spiritual and symbolic undertones, align it with mid-20th-century explorations of inner psychology and metaphysical themes, reminiscent of artists like Roberto Matta or early Rufino Tamayo.
